The Turners saga

An epic literary fantasy saga set in a matriarchal world.

It starts with
the wheel
of the year…

The Wheel must turn.

This single mandate dictates the work of the otherworldly Coven of the Keepers.

Within the world itself, though, things are coming undone as the queens of the Cardinal Lands declare war upon witchery.

Witches, of course, will always fight back.

The Burners delves into the Burning Times, when the witch hunts turn to burnings of true and suspected witches, while otherworldly witches of great power confront long-held truths (2027)

Books three, four, and five are planned for publication in 2028, 2029, and 2030, respectively.
Novelettes released between novels will deepen the lore, taking readers into other lands and perspectives.

Sanverra sits at the heart of the Cardinal Lands

Ruled by Queen Daphne Sanverre, this land is the geographical center of the Cardinal Lands and Lower Lands.

Floutsburg, in the south, is under Queen Enyo’s rule

Oso Arvha is the eastern land led by Queen Meredith

Oestre lies to the west, ruled by the secretive Queen Beatrice

Narvha lies to the north, under Prince Kingsley’s rule

These lands are each rich in their own ways, matriarchal societies with generations of powerful queens writing their histories, leading their people, and working alongside the witches of their local Covens of the Grounded.

The Lower Lands too have their Low Queens, their societies, their Covens of the Grounded.

None of them know of the magic greater than they could possibly conceive, the power that turns their seasons and takes from their experiences to do so…

Outside the world is a witches’ domain called, simply,
Elsewhere

The Coven of the Keepers is home to the nine most powerful living witches:

Three Maidens
Three Matrons
Three Crones

They have but one mandate:
Turn the Wheel of the Year

They harness enhanced experiences from the people of the world to do so, amplifying joys or sorrows as the Wheel demands.

One ARC reader said, in a five-star review:

“Sarah Goehrke dazzles us with her debut novel. I could NOT put this book down. I was addicted and I desperately want more. The plot and characters had me on the edge of my seat, metaphorically biting my nails.

I love how Sarah built the world within The Keepers. She has created a deep lore with nods to Paganism/Druidism. I love her approach to the covens and how society is set up. The plot builds and builds. There are surprising twists and storylines that make your heart ache for the characters. The tension is delicious.

I love that the characters grow and evolve. Every character is well written. I love that Aleris (our FMC) grows so much from chapter 1. I love that she questions the things she's told to blindly follow. As much as she pisses me off, Cora is a great character with depth. … Even the vile characters are memorable.”
